The service goal of the Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) is to provide maximum support to children 3-5 years of age. These children are classified by the Committee of Special Education on Pre-School Special Education (CPSE) to receive these services. The SEIT implements the child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) within early childhood programs or in the family’s home. As the team leader for child, the SEIT collaborates with other related service providers on goal implementation and planning for the student.
For students who need more intensive support, presenting with challenging target behaviors, language or deficits in adaptive behavior, the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis are necessary. SEITs assigned to these children must have extensive experience with ABA.
Each child is assigned a Clinical Coordinator who will conduct site observations and act as a support for the SEIT and the child’s family.
